2010 Rey Jaime Fiesta - Santa Ponsa

The annual Fiesta every August/September marks the landing of King Jaime I in Santa Ponsa on 12 September 1229 to capture Mallorca from the Moors. The Fiesta starts on Friday 27th August and goes on until Thursday 16th September, although the main events come to a conclusion on the weekend of 11th/12th

Here are some of the events which may be of interest to you:

Thursday 2 September 11.30 pm Beatles Tribute Concert at the back of the beach
Saturday 4 September 7.00 pm Parade of the giants through the streets, starting from the Plaza at the back of the beach.
Monday 6 September 10.00 pm Movie on the beach - Avatar
Thursday 9 September  11.00 pm 'Nit de Foc' - Night of Fire - Firework and foam party at the back of the beach ... wear old clothes and take care! Health & Safety doesn't exist on Nits de Foc...
Friday 10 September 12 noon - midnight Medieval Market at the back of the beach
Saturday 11 September 12 noon - midnight Medieval Market at the back of the beach
  12 noon Swim across the Bay of Santa Ponsa
  5.30 pm Landing of the troops on the main beach (Moors) and at the cross by bthe Marina (Christians). Shortly after 6.00 pm they meet on the little beach for a mock battle and then there is a procession from the little beach to the main beach before they engage in battle again (if you can get a bet on, I'd back the Christians if I was you ... they always win!)
  11.00 pm Flower Power Fiesta on the stage at the back of the beach
Sunday 12 September 12 noon - midnight Medieval Market at the back of the beach
  9.00 pm Music from local Calvia bands to bring the Fiesta to a close.
  11.30 pm Grand Firework Display
