Welcome to the website dedicated to the Majorcan holiday resort of Santa Ponsa.
Situated along the south west coast of Mallorca, approximately 20km from the capital Palma and the islands' Son Sant Joan International airport,
Santa Ponsa is part of the Municipal district of Calvia, and during the summer months, is a popular and busy holiday destinations for both British
and Irish visitors to Majorca.
The main resort beach at Santa Ponsa is reasonably large, and in recent years it has been extended with imported sand to accommodate an increasing
number of visitors to the resort. Even so, in high season it can still become very crowded due to its popularity with both tourists and locals alike.
However, if you wish to escape from the crowds, there is also a smaller secondary beach, set in its own sheltered cove, about 15 minutes walk away which
can be reached from the Avda. Rei Jaume I.
Both beaches have the usual facilities expected of a modern resort, along with a good variety of water sports equipment available for hire. Swimming in
the bay is generally quite safe with no strong currents, and fairly shallow waters, however, care must always be exerted when the flag system is in
operation.
Whilst the resort really come alive from May to mid-October each year, is it never in the same league as its nearest neighbours Palma Nova and Magaluf,
and is a lot quieter during the Winter months, so for those of you who want to enjoy some sun and have a relaxing and peaceful Winter break, then Santa
Ponsa is for you. There are always bars, cafes and restaurants open, so you will have somewhere to go during the day and at night.
In high summer you can normally expect day time temperatures here of up to 30'C and night time temperatures averaging 20'C. June, July and August offer
an average of over ten hours of sunshine a day and a sea temperature of 21 to 25'C.
September is considered a very pleasant month and is often favoured by couples at this time of year. The sea is still warm and the day time average max
temp is around 27'C. May and October are often a little cooler, but still offer visitors some glorious sunshine.
Overall the resort of Santa Ponsa should appeal to most people. With so much to see and do, Santa Ponsa is considered to be very family friendly
and hopefully you will not be disappointed.
